Insurgent Author Information

This week I have begun to read the second book in the Divergent series, Insurgent, written by the world renowned author, Veronica Roth. I read the first book in the trilogy during the first trimester and have been dying to get my hands on the second book ever since. She was born in New York City, New York on August 19, 1988. As the youngest of three children Roth graduated high school from Barrington High School and attended Carlton College. After a year she transferred to Northwestern for their creative writing program. During her senior year she began writing her first book, Divergent. It took off around the world and propelled her to the top of the New York Best Sellers list at the early age of 22. Now married to photographer Nilson Fitch, she lives in the Chicago area. After Divergent's success, she wrote the next two books in the trilogy, Insurgent and Allegiant. Roth has also released a short story telling the life story of Tobias Eaton before Divergent. Three more stories are due to be released in July of 2014. Divergent was just recently released as a movie, also getting great reviews.

  1. Nice post, Ailee:) I feel like knowing all that informationn about Veronica Roth helps give the readers a little bit more insight as to how she choses to write things. For example, I'm sure you realized that her books take place in the future Chicago area. Now I understand how that was a personal choice that she made, possibly because she though that it would be esaier to write BECAUSE she has that personal tie with the city. Just my word of advice KEEP READING! You will want to throw the books (particularly Allegient) at the wall at points, but Roth makes some gutsy writing style/plot choices, and it ends up being a great read. Hope to hera more about what you think:)

  3. This book sounds really interesting and I want to read it after I finish Divergent. In your opinion, do you think Insurgent is better than Divergent?

  4. I really liked divergent and I'm going to read insurgent. I loved how you decided to write about the author instead of the book itself.

  5. Amazing post Ailee! I can't believe Veronica started writing Divergent while she was a senior! This was a great book and it was very interesting to learn a little about the author of the book.

  6. Nice! this is really interesting. I never had any idea about the author of this series. I also think its pretty cool that she started writing it so early. I like how you included the picture so the reader knows who you are talking about.

  7. I never knew anything about this author before! It is incredible that she started such a popular and famous book when she was still so young. I think the way you lead the beginning of your life definitely affects you in the long run! And for Veronica Roth, that was a really good thing.
